William M. Corn: ‘Palestinians invented’

When Newt Gingrich (neither a Jew nor an Israeli, just an American) searched for some background data about Palestinians prior to making a speech to them, he reviewed data available to the public.  He found data – facts – from which he concluded that the present day Palestinians actually were an ‘invented people’ because nowhere in history had he found reference to a country named Palestine.  He did not just make up a new phrase.  Ms. Audeh’s letter of 12/29 disagreed with Gingrich.  Newt Gingrich wanted the entire world to know, in real life, Palestinians were an invented people.

Further, only since about 1860, when that land was very bad off economically speaking, did the land area we now call Israel begin to prosper and eventually grow into a modern, businesslike society, because Jews began to seize business opportunities, and fought to enter fields of work from which they had been barred.  During those 1860 bad years, many people from present day Israel’s land area left for lands as far away as Russia.  Only when the efforts of the Jews began to be noticeable and brought some prosperity, did Arabs return.  Many of today’s Palestinians are merely descendants of those who left in 1860.

Ms. Audeh then compared the Palestinian efforts to establish a state, just as the Jews had done.  To the contrary, Israel’s land was given to them by GOD; who else is higher up?
