Zdenka Smith: Don’t let bikers displace hikers

Anemone and Open Space:

For City Council please vote for Lisa Morzel, Suzanne Jones and Tim Plass, who will protect Anemone; a small, rugged, as yet unspoiled section of our Open Space that neighbours protected areas to north and south. I prefer this area to remain undeveloped and the funds proposed for this purpose to be used to making easy access to Betasso and the High Country from the Creek Path. Mountain Biking covers a wide range, from bikes that follow trails to those that jump, slide and do acrobatics- an extreme sport. I believe the Bikers (BMA– by no means all mountain bikers and a minority of bikers in Boulder) who are pushing hard for development of Anemone for Bikers, hope for the exciting rides. OS has already ceded 30% of our trails to them; they keep demanding more. Please help stop this takeover as bikers displace hikers. As humans keep expanding their domain, the destruction of wild life and nature follows. Do not let this happen to Boulder’s remaining wild-spaces.
