This is in response to Carla Brauer-Lalezri’s September 19 letter. I am shocked a letter was published that refers to an entire ethnicity as a “fundamentalist group” and “illegitimate terrorists”. Are Palestinian children terrorists? Are the elderly and infirm amongst the Palestinians terrorists? Frankly, I fail to see what Palestine has to do with an attack by a mob of Egyptians. And who blames the Jews for 9/11, besides anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists? Certainly no one in the mainstream. Anyone looking at such statements as “Palestinians constantly attack Israel with rockets killing many civilians on a daily basis” should look at both sides of the coin, as the number of Palestinian civilian casualties eclipses Israeli civilian deaths many times over. What little land the Palestinians have left is either stolen through illegal Jewish settling or bombed with white phosphorus, at times with seemingly little regard given to whether this horrible skin-melting substance lands on militants or civilians. And are you honestly suggesting the American media is pro-Palestine? Get real. The US is one of the only developed countries in support of Israel’s actions, and Israel receives more money from the US at the cost of the taxpayers every year than the entire continent of Africa! The fact is that the Palestinians had their homeland literally yanked out from under their feet, by a regime that cares little for the people they are oppressing, a sad fact epitomized by the callous and racist Israeli slogan, ‘A land without people for a people without land’. There is no denying which side has borne the brunt of civilian casualties, and while both sides are to blame for offenses committed, it is unreasonable to illegally confiscate land from a people and deny them freedom and security, and expect anything less than violent opposition.
