You printed an interesting cartoon on Saturday depicting President Obama conflicted with the Democratic Party donkey haranguing him on his left shoulder and himself as St. Sebastian trying to compromise with the Republicans on the right.
St. Sebastian was a third century martyr who joined the Roman army in order to protect Christian solders who were being persecuted. After he was ordered shot to death by arrows, and survived, he was taken in by a group of Christians who didn’t think he was “really” a Christian, or maybe he wasn’t Christian “enough”. After healing from his wounds, he went right back in front of the emperor who had him shot full of arrows, and berated him. And… he was sentenced to death again, the second time successfully.
I hope Barack Obama survives the onslaught
