November 2011 Boulder will have an election on a wind energy plan for the city of Boulder. There are some facts that need to be considered before voting.
!. Wind energy is not yet a viable energy source, without the Federal Government subsidies. Subsidies must go away to balance the budget. It is our money sent to Washington DC. For every dollar sent to Washington DC, ear marked for efficient energy, after it is managed and mismanaged, only a fraction is returned us as a subsidy. (my SWAG is 10 to 50 cents)
This subsidy and the people in Washington DC who manage the money must go away.
2. Xcel Energy will not give Boulder the electric grid infrastructure as the consultants have assumed.
If you must vote for this ridiculous plan do it only if Xcel Energy plays a major support role. The Boulder City Counsel has about as much knowledge as an organic vegetable does relative to running an electric power plant and distribution infrastructure.
