Dear Editor,
I am writing as the director of Boulder’s Walk and Bike Month, which concluded June 30. First, I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped Community Cycles coordinate more than 75 events, including Bike to Work Day on June 22. Second, thanks to the three dozen Walk and Bike Month sponsors and the 48 businesses and organizations that served up breakfast on Bike to Work Day. We heard tons of feedback from participants that the breakfast spots were outstanding this year.
I’d also like to thank the 4,776 riders and walkers who registered for Bike to Work Day. Your participation sends a strong message to our community leaders that biking and pedestrian-friendly modes of transportation are a high priority for the citizens of Boulder.
Finally, I’d like to encourage people who tried biking or walking as an alternative to driving during Walk and Bike Month to keep it up. New habits take time, but, when formed, you will feel better being part of a city that is healthier, happier and more efficient.
