Ed Gazvoda: A teachable moment for student at Sanchez Elementary School?

How dare a student find a broken plastic gun and brandish it on the playground at Sanchez Elementary School. BVSD has an amazing opportunity to teach a 10 year old about zero tolerance. Michele DeBerry, chief Discipline Coordinator for BVSD, gets paid to take this matter seriously. What was the child thinking? Did he not know adults at the Ed Center would have no ability to rationally process his actions? Surely, he must have contemplated that administrators would expel him in the name of Columbine.

Putting his child up for expulsion makes us all proud and even a little envious that we couldn’t be the ones to personally kick his little behind out of school. With this gunslinger gone, his classmates’ parents will finally be able to get some sleep and dream that their children will never decide to play with the wrong toy in the wrong place.
