Guns are occasionally sold from personal collections at gun shows and gun prohibitionist call this a “loophole”. Regarding the assertion that criminals often obtain guns at gun shows, the most recent federal study puts the figure at 0.7 percent ( NRA ).
Lastly, I believe the NRA make’s a good point in encouraging people to report to the proper authorities “red flags” when they seen them such as the Tucson shooter Jared Loughner- mentally unstable- and the Foot Hood killer Major Hasan- religious extremist, both of whom slipped though the system.
