First, if the ocean oil rigs were removed, we wouldn’t have to deal with the aftermath of an oil spill like environmental and financial crises. An oil spill affects people who own small shops and restaurants on the coast can lose their businesses do to the lack of materials, food, and jobs lost caused by oil rig damage. Workers on the rigs won’t be in danger of losing their lives due to the damage caused by the oil rigs malfunction.
Second, when the oil rig breaks we won’t have to spend a lot of money repairing it. Some oil rigs are so deep, humans can’t go under so the government has to spend lots of money to build robots capable of doing our job at such depts. It takes months to fix the oil rig and during those months millions of oil is pouring into the ocean and we are already facing a shortage of natural resources.
Third, the wildlife is in a lot of danger when there is an oil spill and those already endangered species might go extinct. The leatherback sea turtle is extinct due to current pollution in their native areas. The 2010 oil spill in the gulf caused many animals to die due to the oil covering them.
People might say that we might need the money by collecting oil in the ocean and, that is true so I think instead of drilling down from the ocean that we could wait until we have money to find an alternative route to the oil areas. Now might not be the time but I think sometime in the future it should be done.
