Audrey Hesker: Raise the driving age to 18

I want the driving age to be raised to eighteen.  I think the driving age should be raised because being able to get people places safely is very important. People would be happier and possibly, cheaper car insurance for everyone. But people’s driver’s license should not be taken away from them if they already got it, but are under eighteen years old.
There will be safer drivers. This is because teenagers are not completely mature when they’re sixteen years old. It is said that sixteen year olds literally have holes in their brains when they are sixteen. I got this information from a few car insurance websites. There will also be a lot more happy people and families because there will be safer roads. There will be more parents willing to let their son or daughter drive, because of fewer car crashes and safer roads. Also, their child would be much more mature.  There will be fewer car crashes. Sixteen year olds have three times larger crash rates than seventeen year olds, and five times larger crash rates than eighteen year olds.  Sixteen year olds are twice as likely to get in a car crash as eighteen and nineteen year olds.
Please think about this possibility.  It would be wonderful if the roads were safer.  I know a lot more people would feel safer about letting their children drive.
