I am greatly dismayed and shocked to see that our District Attorney, Stan Garnett has reneged on his promise to serve justice in the Molly Midyette case. I know him to be a conscientious servant of our city so I am baffled by the current state of events with his reversal (Daily Camera 10/29/09).
I fear that it is because Molly is a woman and so this case is easier to cast aside. I hate to think this, but justice has not been served to this young woman over and over again. Domestic violence is a terrible reality in our world that demands thorough and tough examination without intimidation if we have any hope of reducing its power and prevalence.
I hope that our DA will promptly reconsider his stance and allow the motion to be heard so that the voice of justice can prevail.

Kudos to District Attorney Stan Garnett for his resolute stand for Justice in upholding the jury verdict against Molly Midyette. It is the right thing to do for Justice for the death of Jason Midyette. As evidenced in the grand jury indictment against Molly Midytte, she lied REPEATEDLY to her own mother about injuries to the baby well before the baby’s death, when he could have been saved had she acted responsibly, instead of covering up and lying about what was happening. She added insult to injury in trashing her peditrician throughout the trial, Dr. Jill Siegfried. She was overheard by nurses in the ICU strategizing about OUR, not his, but OUR defense to the charges that would be coming down over Jason’s death. She lied to a boyfriend about stitches she received during Jason’s birth, saying she was in a car accident, so she could garner sympathy for HERSELF. According to Newsweek, she repeatedly turned down offers to take a deal and help the District Attorney’s office, prior to her conviction. The jury heard her on the witness stand, and even got to ask her questions. The jury verdict was just and in accordance with the evidence, and the testimony of Molly herself.

How many people crying crocodile tears for this woman read the grand jury indictment, where she repeatedly LIED in the weeks preceding her son's fatal injuries, about injuries to her baby, to her own mother? These critical weeks when Jason's life could have been saved had SHE acted responsibly, instead of LYING and covering up the truth. Molly was hardly a meek housewife, she is a Juris Doctor, far more educated than her thuggish husband. She had a job, she had a car, and could have taken her son to the emergency room or police station at any time prior to his death. (More, next post)

28. In late January or early February 2006, Molly showed her mother, Jane Bowers, a very light colored bruise that was located on Jason's forehead by an eyebrow. Molly told Jane that the bruise occurred while Alex was holding Jason as he bent down to pick something up off the floor in the dining room, and bumped Jason's head on a chair when he stood up. Molly further told Jane that she was not home during this incident and that she learned that Jason did not cry, but his eyes just popped open. Additionally Molly told Jane there was something wrong with Jason's arm. Molly described Jason's arm as "it sort of floated." Further Molly told Jane that she and Alex talked to the doctor out it and showed her the arm. Molly said the doctor examined the arm and referred to it as his "gimpy" arm. Dr. Siegfried said that Molly or Alex never informed her out a problem with Jason's arm. Jason's medical records do not reflect any mention of this concern.
