To the City of Boulder Transportation Dept:
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? (yes! I’m shouting!).
The on-demand pedestrian signals on Broadway at 17th and at 18th were annoying enough but now full-fledged traffic lights (at $60,000 each) are being installed on Broadway at 17th and 18th? I thought that the City budget was in shambles so I’m mystified why good money would be spent on traffic lights … especially traffic lights one block apart.
If protecting CU students is the point, why not ONE light mid-point between 17th and 18th … at least that would save us tax paying citizens 1/2 the cost.
And when the City gets around to building the underpass for the students at 16th and Euclid, it seems these signals will be largely irrelevant.
