Black Friday just gets nuttier every year. This Friday, Kohls will open at 3 a.m.
so you’ll have to get up at 2:00 to get the best deals. But wait! The outlet mall in
Castle Rock is opening at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving. So you can start shopping after
dinner and stay up all night. Wal-Mart tops them all. They will be open all day and
all night on Thanksgiving so you can skip the holiday altogether and just shop,
shop, shop!
If you are tired of this madness and want a return to sanity during the holidays, I
have some ideas. First, enjoy your Thanksgiving with family and friends. Next,
sleep in this weekend. After a restful night, come to downtown Boulder around
10 a.m. and grab a latte or hot tea. Stroll our 170 shops and galleries where you
can choose from thousands of unique gifts. Enjoy lunch in one of almost 100
restaurants, including some of the best in the country. For the kids, Santa will be
here from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and the ice rink will be open
all weekend.
You won’t get pushed or shoved and you won’t have to stand in line for hours, but
you will see buskers, carolers and the most unique shops in Colorado. Plus you
could find some great bargains. This weekend includes Green Friday and Small
Business Saturday with many merchants offering special discounts.
So skip the Black Friday madness and enjoy a long weekend in Boulder. Check out
