I find the enthusiasm for the proposed multi-sport complex alarming and felt compelled to voice my opinion against this major development. The artist’s rendering clearly shows that the magnitude of this development is enormous and not at all in character with the semi-rural nature of the site.
The wildlife in the area, such as the resident pair of Red-tailed Hawks, would be driven out and replaced with intrusive night lights and noise. This development cannot help but increase traffic congestion with people coming and going from the hotel and sports complex, not to mention increasing the packs of bicyclists attempting to share the road with the increased number of vehicles.
I’ve lived here over 20 years and have sadly watched as the northern edge of Boulder has been steadily eroded by development. There must still be others who remember and appreciate the “old” Boulder, who love open spaces and don’t see a need to develop every vacant site. Speak up against this “complex” – bottom line it is no different than any other major development, such as a big-box store like WalMart. It simply doesn’t belong in this area.
