The overwhelming debt taken on by many Congresses in our name presents an ever-greater burden on future generations. Worse, we have enabled politicians to perpetuate their folly by returning taxes to us in the form of “gifts” for our schools, highways and public projects. All of this federal money is stuck in a web of regulations demanding allegiance to an ever-expanding national government.
Our national government recognizes no limits to its power. The Constitutional limits on expansion were shelved long ago. I believe that we must adopt the values and restrictions defined at great cost to our Founders.
I asked Jared Polis whether the recent Health Care legislation is constitutional. His answer, “It is as constitutional as Medicare,” is revealing. He is quite comfortable with more of the same: tax, spend, regulate. Stephen Bailey is untested, but Jared was tested and failed.
