In regards to state to track pot purchases.
Lawmaker pipe dreams
The state law makers fundamentally misunderstand the marijuana industry. Anyone who has had any experience with basic micro-economics understands the difference between wholesale and retail.(did the “officials” miss that lesson?) The marijuana available at the dispensaries is more expensive than the marijuana available illegally. So, a person purchasing marijuana at a retail price would have a difficult time selling it on the black market. RFID tracking and other costly measures would only add to the cost of the final product and help the black market proliferate.
Nine million dollars was stolen from Colorado’s marijuana industry. The industry needs to sue the state for this action. The long term effects of this drug are unknown, and the money from licenses should be used to research the long term effects of this drug. So the next time you see a Stoner, thank them for the nine million dollars that was used for education, fire fighting and road maintenance. Which brings new meaning to the term pot hole.
