Roger Grady: Repaving streets in unincorporated Boulder County neighborhoods

I have been self employed for 20 years and paying for medical coverage
monthly that I thought would benefit me when needed in the future.
I’ve been to my doctor every year for an annual checkup since 1995,
and about six years ago I changed doctors.  In 2010 my doctor told me
that I’m diabetic and it would take about $10,000 for my treatment.  I
asked how, all of a sudden, that I’d now be responsible for this cost
and he said that my medical insurance for which I’d been paying the
last 20 years, does not cover my diabetic condition.  Why did my
doctor not tell me some time ago that I’d be facing this cost now and
in the future?  He said that, “my last doctor should have told me”
that I was diabetic when he knew it in 1995, and I should have been
saving for the last 15 years for this expenditure.  But, doctor, “I
knew nothing about it until now.”  “This is not my problem,” he said,
“it is a problem between you and your former doctor.”  “But,” he said,
“I’m willing to let you pay for the $10,000 expenditure over the next
15 years, but,” he continued, “you will need another $10,000 by then,
so prepare for that through the years.”

I am furious that my previous doctor did not tell me something that he
knew in 1995 and my current doctor could care less about the cost of
my problem, only that if I want to be treated, I’m going to have to
pay for it, above and beyond my current medical insurance premiums.

After reading Dick's pontification on college students, their education, intelligence, knowledge and the direct link to liberalism and the Democratic Party, I googled "Democratic Party". Then, I clicked on "Democratic Party – Wikipedia", which espouses all the wonderful virtues of liberalism.

Interestingly, it contains two National Election Studies' surveys that pose the question, "Do you have a 4-year college diploma (at the least)?" The charts clearly show and the Democratic Party willfully admits Republicans are SIGNIFICANTLY MORE LIKELY than Democrats to have AT LEAST a 4-year college degree.

Are college students (many of whom will drop-out) necessarily more educated and knowledgeable than people with at least a 4-year college degree?

Additionally, as people get older they tend towards conservatism. Both parties admit this.
Are college students necessarily more educated and knowledgeable than people with at least a 4-year degree (or those without a degree) that have worked in the real world for 20, 30, 40+ years?

Mr. Montague's letter is misleading at best. It would be easier to state, well-educated, highly intelligent, knowledgeable people do NOT tend towards liberalism and the Democratic Party. Furthermore, one could assert that conservatism grows as people gain more knowledge about the world around them.

Perhaps, there is indeed cause for concern that most universities have an overwhelming liberal bias at just the moment a young adult is most impressionable, even though that kid (if he/she graduates) will grow-up and tend towards conservatism later in life.

Of course, the uber-liberal Daily Camera did not publish my factual Letter to the Editor. Can't let facts get in the way of the liberal cause.
