The Camera has been running a series of George Will’s columns about Palestine and Israel which can most charitably be called “obscene” (his word). It is impossible to do justice in a critique limited to this space.
George will writes about “Palestinian terrorism.” Palestinian violence is a pathetically weak manifestation of a Palestine Resistance Movement. Does George Will believe The French Resistance during WW II was a terrorist organization? Does he think American Indians were terrorists? George Will wrote “Gaza’s actual misfortune is to be under the iron fist of Hamas, a terrorist organization.” George Will, not surprisingly, conveniently forgot
that, legally and democratically, Hamas won the internationally supervised Palestine election of 2006. The collaborator Palestine President Abbas, Israel and the US immediately ponced on the results and destroyed
Hamas’ victory. Will writes, “[Israeli] Prime Minister Ehud Barak “…offered to cede control of all of Gaza…”
Cede control? In the previous three thousand years, Jews had never controlled Gaza. Will writes, “On November
29, 1947,the UN recommended a partition plan.” By whose authority? Western leaders, feeling guilty about the Holocaust, magnanimously gave away someone elses land to assuage their guilt. George Will also tells us about Jewish suffering at the hands of Palestinians, but totally ignores the terrible Palestinian suffering at the hands of Israeli Jews–lost homes, lost water, lost farmland, the destruction of Palestinian culture, the killing of 300 Palestinian children in three weeks of an Israeli attack on Gaza–after years of an internationally illegal siege of the people of Gaza (collective punishment).
Mr. Will should do some research before he writes about topics he is obviously ignorant about…or chooses to be ignorant about.
