The Book Arts League (www.bookartsleague.org) thanks Silvia Pettem for her article on the Ewing Homestead in Lafayette. It was gratifying to see the years of work we put into working with first the Ridge at Cross Creek HOA, and then the City of Lafayette to get the grant monies for the ongoing restoration, resulting in saving this wonderful property. BAL volunteers have put in countless hours of labor and we have received generous donations for the needs of the buildings.
This unique facility lets us provide community arts projects and other book arts resources for the public. We invite you to visit the farmhouse and bunkhouse, with working antique presses, at our next open house on Saturday, August 28 from 1 to 4 pm. I do like the way you have presented this specific situation and it does provide us some fodder for consideration. Nonetheless, through what I have witnessed, I simply just hope as the feed-back pile on that folks keep on issue and not get started on a tirade involving the news of the day.
