More certain even than death and taxes is that, in any incident involving Israel, many will rush to condemn the Jewish state. Here we go again.
Since the terrorist group, Hamas, started ruling Gaza in 2005, they have attacked Israel with 10,000 rockets. Thus a naval blockade is necessary (and legal) to protect Israelis from weapons smuggling
On May 31, 6 ships with “humanitarian aid” for Gaza were intercepted. Israel had repeatedly promised the ships could proceed if Israel were allowed to inspect the cargo for weapons. The so-called humanitarians refused just as they had refused a request to help arrange a Red Cross visit to Gilad Shalit, hostage of Hamas.
The “activists” also ignored the fact that Gaza has plenty of supplies. Tobias Buck of Financial Times recently reported that “shops all over Gaza were bursting with goods.”
Numerous weapons were found on the ship later. Along with the weapons , the “humanitarians” had brought small children to this dangerous situation.
Before the Israeli interception, passengers chanted about killing Jews and praising martyrdom. (See the Internet videos) Organizers admitted “this mission is not about delivering humanitarian supplies; it’s about breaking Israel’s siege.”
Flotilla organizers are connected to Islamic Jihad, Hamas and other terrorist groups. The latest intelligence reports that 40 were paid Al-Qaeda operatives.
Israeli soldiers boarding one ship to inspect were immediately attacked by passengers who beat them with metal pipes, stabbed and shot them, threw one Israeli off the ship and fired a stun grenade. Attackers grabbed two Israeli guns so we don’t know who actually killed some of the attackers. Seven Israelis were hospitalized, two in critical condition.
Everyone has forgotten the recent torpedoing of the South Korean ship by North Korea which killed 46 people. It is more fun to condemn Israel.
