I see that Senator Udall, as expected, has come out in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens.
He claims we are going to “close the border” and not hire any illegals. -Seems like I heard that once before, in 1986 when they said exactly the same thing, then legalizing 2 million. All that effort got us was 12 million this time. If you give amnesty to 12 million, how many will you get next time, 50 million? Clearly we are sending the wrong message here.
Giving citizenship to one who snuck into this country is a slap in the face to every citizen and every legal immigrant.
As for “closing the border”, it is impossible. They will find some way in as long as there is an expectation that citizenship will result.
As for “taking jobs that no American would want”, I point to construction work as just one example. This used to be a solid middle-class occupation, with decent living wages. The workers were all americans. Now go onto any construction site. The wages are beaten down so far that few if any americans would take the work.
I think all Mr. Udall wants is 12 million more voters that he perceives will vote for democrats like himself.
