“He had a bolt-action rifle, and he was trying to rack another round.”
Just think. If Dr. Benke had been kept coddled and “innocent” regarding firearms his entire life like the squeamish would like to see happen to all of us, there is NO WAY he would have ever known what a bolt-action rifle looked like or what it could do. Let alone, that it had to be reloaded and in what it took to do that. Such an incident has shown us that part of the solution to firearm threats involves education along with virtuous authority.
Squeamish “liberals” would pay big money to keep our society from glorifying heroes like Benke (who KNOW what the right thing to do is) and want us to glorify groups and individuals who step back in shock and horror to pontificate about how horrible guns are. The problem with requesting Americans to be dainty about violence is that we know instinctively what’s right. When guns are banned they become valuable. That’s sheer economics. Not only do weapons become valuable, but also status symbols coveted by jealous and resentful wackos. Such people thrive on new-found, fearsome fame. Assuring you and me that the best thing to do is squirm, back away, and “share our feelings” in the face of terror is negligence, personified. Supporting their edicts through the psychiatric industry that labels gun victims as “sick” is also immoral, and a HUGE part of the problem.
Someone once said, “A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged”. Deer Creek may be just the stimulus needed to give us all a reality check when it comes to guns.
