We are at a critical crossroads with regard to American healthcare. The United States is the only developed country without a viable form of guaranteed health care. We are the highest in medical backrupties.
I am one of the millions of people with “health insurance” that insures very little. I live in total fear of getting sick or injured and having to go to the hospital. Why?, not because the care is so bad but because I dread the difficulties that will arise from the insurance billing. A 3 hour trip to the ER means 2 days of sorting and wrestling with either the hospital or insurance company. Clearly it is a gross waste of time for everyone, and adds to the costs.
I hear people say that our costs will go up, and wonder what they base that on? Isn’t having everyone covered and contributing fairer than the current system where the insured are indirectly paying for the uninsured as a part of “hospital overhead”.
Then there is a Colorado Senator having sold out the population at 2.7 cents a citizen. ($108,000 in health care industry contributions divided by the state population). This Democrat senator is not speaking out, and seems more interested in nearly every other issue. What does he do with the 2.7 cents he sold my basic right for?
It is long past time for Washington to say NO! to the lobbyists and YES to every American having a true health care system. A system based on health care and not profits.
I ask that Washington to stop resisting the change that we need. To do what they were elected to do.
Support President Obama’s most progressive health plan NOW!!!, and include a public option. I am tired of being afraid of getting sick.
