To Whom It May Concern:
I know that there has been a lot said about health care and health care reform. This is a huge problem in the United States. I know at least 10 people that do not have health care or that have inadequate health care. I personally have health care that basically does not cover anything. Yes, it covers well child visits with a copay, but nothing major until the deductible is fulfilled. There are those that say, but you chose this type of health care whereas in reality it is what we could afford. It is horrible to hear an insurance agent tell you that no your not covered for your pre-exisitng condition, but that you are protecting from anything in the future. Mind you anything in the future that does not involve my daughter’s pre-exisiting condition of asthma. How stupid is this? What is really frustrating is that we pay our premium and it is suppose to cover well child visits, but because my physician gave us a prescription for albuterol inhalers for asthma, which he does at every annual visit our insurance did not pay for the visit. I had to go back and forth with the insurance company for several months and ended up not getting it resolved because my physician “filed under the wrong code.” per my insurance company. I do not have time to follow up with my doctors office to have him code something for me a certain way so that it is taken care of under my plan. People should not have to put this much time and effort into something they are already paying for. Paying your premium and then having to battle the insurance company to pay. What a waste of my money and my time.
There are so many people in this positon and now that times are getting tough and everyone is trying to cut costs…does anyone really believe that normal everyday people are going to chose to pay for health care insurance or their mortgage? Health care insurance or food for your family? Health care insurance or utilities? These are the real dilemmas that most Americans face everyday. We are not a priveleged bunch that has 3 months reserves and an emergency fund. We are hard working Americans that are living check to check and are doing our best to stay on top. I personally was excited when the health bill came to congress, however, it has been disheartening recently. I know that each representative and senator has a responsibility to their constituants, but what about to this country? The health care system is a mess whether you have insurance or not. Look how long it took for a President to bring this to the forefront. I am sure that there are Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc that don’t have health care. This is not isolated to one party, one ethnicity, or one gender. It is a problem that we all face as Americans. You either are someone without health care or you know someone who does not have health care or you are or know someone with health care that is not appropriate. Shouldn’t we all have the ability to obtain decent coverage that does not discriminate us because of pre-exisiting conditions or social status? Our country is ready and we need to reform the health care system now. We can not afford to wait until we have no choice int the matter. Our economy is suffering, our individal health and our pocketbooks are being affected and we the American people need help NOW. Thanks for your time.
