Revenues are down. Budgets are cut. A transportation fee imposition is discussed. And yet…on December 1, 2009 a street cleaning vehicle was placidly traveling west then east on Spruce St. Were the street being cleaned we would have rejoiced to see the soggy leaves, crushed branches, tar balls and sand removed. (The 2100 block of Spruce was used as a street repair staging area for several months.)
However, both sides of the street were completely “parked” which effectively put the street cleaning vehicle near the middle of the street on both sides.
The transportation departmnet knows, from previous years, that “NO PARKING” signs need to be placed along the curbs to ensure vacant streets before any attempt at cleaning is made.
So what happened this year?
