The City of Ashraf, Iraq is in grave danger.
Why? Because Ashraf, 3400 citizens, members of the People’s Mujahideen of Iran (PMOI), mounted resistance against the Tehran regime and, because they supplied valuable intelligence to U.S. forces during the Iraq war.
For these “crimes”, Tehran is seeking mortal revenge on Ashraf (with the help of the newly-formed Iraqi government) once they illegally displace the residents to a remote desert location. Ashraf has little protection against this assault. It is currently unarmed, because during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, they surrendered their weapons and the U.S. pledged their protection under 4GC.
The deadline for this horror is on or about December 15th, 2009. It has also just been learned, that as of November 25th, all medicine and medical doctors have been banned from entering the city of Ashraf.
This displacement and denial of vital medical care is a blatant violation of international law, including the International Humanitarian Law (IHL). It is a “crime against humanity” and a “war crime”.

It is against the moral code and standards of the American people that Ashraf would be left unprotected while the U.S. has troops in Iraq. Their protection should at the very least be guaranteed for the duration of U.S. forces stationing in Iraq.
