The Longmont Times-Call is in lock step with past “old guard” City Council members. Their contempt for the current Council is undeniable. Whether it is blatant bias in reporting the Lifebridge/Firestone controversy, overplaying chicken ownership or trivializing prairie dog mitigation, this “news”paper is intent on shaping opinion rather than simply reporting the news. Their endorsement of the “gang of four” –archly conservative candidates; Baum, Santos, Witt and Sammoury is sadlly, no surprise. The insulated Longmont power brokers who care more about protecting themselves than helping our community fund these candidates. Follow the money and see these elites are not about growing all local businesses or protecting our precious land, boundaries and wildlife.
The voters of Longmont won’t be fooled. Remember, The Longmont Times-Call also endorsed McCain-Palin and told voters last week to reject the Open Space ballot measure. They clearly don’t speak for Longmont.
