To the Editor:

The purpose of this letter is to correct misinformation about fees at Boulder County trails and trailheads. Some reports have inaccurately stated that Boulder County currently has, or is considering charging, fees for use of open space. While the City of Boulder may consider this approach for their trails and trailheads, Boulder County supports the idea of allowing public use of county open space without any fee.

In fact, Boulder County has never charged a fee for using Boulder County Open Space trails or trailhead parking. Our department recognizes there are open space programs up and down the Front Range that offer facilities and trails for public use. Many of our residents visit those trails and open space properties and residents of those counties visit our trails and open spaces.

Again, we do not have any plans to charge fees to those who enjoy our open space properties.
