I have spent the last four years on the BVSD Board of Education and regret that I will no longer be able to serve. Fortunately there are two candidates interested in replacing me in District E. Of the two, Jim Pollicita gets my vote as he has the experience and independence to balance the interests of the various communities that constitute the school district is what will invariably be tough economic times ahead.
Jim and I served together on DAC, the District Accountability Committee. He was both deliberate and considerate, skills that will serve him well on the BVSD Board of Education. An added benefit is that Jim resides in the town of Louisville, broadening the perspective of the Board.
As for the other two school board races, I readily support Lesley Smith in District B and Jennie Belval in District F. I have had the privilege of serving with Lesley for the last four years on the Board of Education. I have also worked with Jennie in her role as Chairperson for CBOC, the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. In these roles, they both have served conscientiously in the challenging situations the school district has faced so I have no doubt that they will be both be assets to the Board of Education and our community’s future.
Thank you for your support over the last four years. The experience has been invaluable to me personally and hopefully has benefited our community. I hope to continue supporting our community through volunteerism and encourage others to do so as well.
Patti J. Smith
