The email purportedly lists the proposals in the bill that will turn America into a communist county, and because it gives the locations of the proposals, I can verify the claims. A few examples:
Claim: (Pg. 59) “The government will have direct access to your bank account.” Actually, the referenced section describes how insurance companies will reimburse providers electronically to save money.
Claim: (Pg. 58) “The government will issue healthcare ID cards.” (Like the cards that Medicare recipients and the privately insured have been showing doctors and hospitals for decades?)
Claim: (Pg. 29) “There is a maximum that insurance will pay for your care.” Actually, the referenced section states the maximum out-of-pocket expenses a patient can be charged.
Claim: (Pg. 145) “An employer must enroll employees into the public option plan. There is no choice.” Actually, the public option isn’t mentioned. If an employee chooses the employer’s plan (whatever it is) the employer enrolls the employee.
What I fear more than the lies being disseminated is that many people believe or pretend to believe them. Are they gullible, do they enjoy being scared, or do they want to believe the worst about the Democratic Congress and the dedicated Democratic President in the Oval Office?
