Editor, Its obvious that Boulder has very confusing rules that govern the bike/pedestrian/car interface; and this became tragic last week when the little boy was hit in a crosswalk. I’d like to suggest some
changes.
1 Require bike riders to dismount and walk their bikes when they are acting as pedestrians,such as in crosswalks or on sidewalks.
2 Ride only on the side of the street with the flow of traffic, not against traffic.
3 No passing vehicles on the inside at intersections, when the vehicle is turning.
4 Remove the flashing light crosswalks from the middle of blocks, and install them at intersections.
Right now its like a figure-eight race out there, and unless some changes are made I’m afraid that there will be more needless tragedies occuring on the streets of Boulder.
