This article mentions some very important statistics, which “should” alarm anyone who insists on texting while driving, however, I think one question is being missed, “how do you feel about spending time in prison”? I believe this question needs to be directed towards our young people in particular.
There is this thing called “vehicular homicide”, and if you are charged with it, you get to spend time in prison. This article points out several times the lack of concern that individuals tend to have even knowing “their safety” is at risk while texting and driving. However everyone needs to be reminded of the total consequences (not just prison) of injuring or killing another.
The story that is mentioned of the young man running a stop light (with no injuries) is a fortunate one. The large majority of the time when an accident like this occurs, there are at minimum severe injuries, if not fatalities.
So folks, if you just can’t wait to get out of your car to text, and your own personal safety is of no consequence to you, think for a minute how little you will get to text while in prison.
