Editor: I’m so glad Ward Churchill is supposedly ENTITLED to get his old job back. That means anyone–incompetent, miscreant, malfeasant, lackey, pirate, and just plain crook–has a chance at lifetime legitimate employment. Maybe even Eliot Spitzer and George Bush are “entitled” to their old jobs. When you work in a position of public trust there is an implied covenant that you will observe at least a modicum of propriety and take due professional care in your conduct, during work hours and afterwards. I have yet to hear Mr. Churchill once speak to the importance of the university students he supposedly yearns to serve again. Yes, that’s right: SERVE. Teaching is an honor, not a forum for showing off one’s dental work.
