Dear Editor,
When I work in my garden at 703 Fourmile Canyon Drive, I often receive compliments by passers by. Last Sunday I even had a man stop and take photos of my tall bearded iris, Iris ‘Stepping Out’. You can imagine my shock and outrage when this Sunday I realized that someone had stolen half of my iris. I realize plant theft is becoming a more common crime, but it is always a surprise when it happens to you.
And what a missed opportunity. Had the individual who stole my iris had a conversation with me about the merits of the plant and expressed interest in receiving some of the iris the next time I was dividing them, it would have been wonderful to gain a gardening friend to share and exchange plants with. Instead in a cowardly manner, this person trampled my garden and ripped out plants that are available locally at Long’s Gardens for only $7.50.
Sincerely,
Elaine Walker
