America needs a new energy plan.
Energy is more than just an environmental issue. It is a matter of resources, security, and the future of our economy. By investing in renewable energy, we can ensure the economic and environmental stability that our future demands.
It’s time for bold steps. We need to commit to a national plan for 100% of our electricity to come from renewable energy by 2030.
This means Colorado needs to play its part as well. We are already a leader in wind energy, and with 300 days of sunshine a year we have incredible potential for solar energy. I encourage the public and our representatives to triple Colorado’s electricity intake from solar in the next 2 years.
These commitments will also benefit our economy immensely. Investing in solar manufacturing will create ten times the amount of jobs as investments in oil and gas. It’s time for Colorado to take its place not only as a leader in wind energy, but as a leader in solar as well.
